Boys U19 Soccer to Play in Feature Game of DA Winter Cup

LAKEWOOD RANCH, FLA. – After winning the three crucial qualifying games for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Boys Winter Cup earlier this fall, the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Boys U19 soccer team looks to capitalize on this success in the Boys Winter Cup tournament this week in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

SSM’s first game on Wednesday, Dec. 4 against the San Jose Earthquakes has been chosen as a “feature game” of the tournament, a privilege that only 12 of the 32 competing teams received. The game can be streamed at 1:00 p.m. CST on http://www.ussoccerda.com/home.php.

“We are one of 32 teams left in the competition and now the goal is to earn our way into the final eight teams with the Cup Finals in the spring. Being selected as a “feature game” is a bonus. I am happy for the players (as they are the ones that are putting in the effort), our families (as they make so many sacrifices), and our program,” stated Boys U19 head coach and Director of Boys Soccer, Sean Bushey.

The Sabres will play three games total in the tournament, facing Philadelphia Union and Miami Rush Kendall after they take on the San Jose Earthquakes.
