DALLAS - Former Sabres Oliver Wahlstrom and Logan Hutsko were two of the 217 young men to hear their names called in the 2018 NHL Draft this past weekend in Dallas.
On Friday, Oliver Wahlstrom was selected by the New York Islanders as their first pick of the draft (11th overall). Wahlstrom attended Shattuck-St. Mary’s from 2014-2016 where he played on both the Bantam team and the U18 Prep team. In his 108 games played, Wahlstrom totaled 94 goals and 72 assists.
In the third round, the Florida Panthers selected Logan Hutsko with the 89th pick overall. Hutsko, who is committed to Boston College, spent three seasons as a Sabre from 2012-2015. Between his time on the Bantam team and U16 Prep team, Hutsko recorded 78 goals and 161 assists.
This is the 16th consecutive year in which a former Sabre has been drafted.
