Robert Sagel '13 Drafted by Houston Dynamo

FARIBAULT, MN – Former Shattuck-St. Mary’s defender Robert Sagel ’13 will be taking his talents to the next level after being selected by the Houston Dynamo in the fourth round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Sagel played at Shattuck-St. Mary’s from 2011-2013 on both the U16 DA and U18 DA teams. After his time as a Sabre, Sagel played two years at Temple University before transferring to Penn State, where he started in 31 of 32 matches.

“Robbie was a delight to coach. He was an excellent teammate and set a great example both on and off the field. During the year he spent with our U16 team, he was a main reason why the team did not concede a goal during our six academy home games. You could see his potential early on in his time at Shattuck, and he has worked extremely hard to give himself the opportunity to become a professional player. I could not be more happy for him and his family and everyone at SSM wishes him every success in the future,” said Sagel’s recruiter and former coach, Bob Moullin.
