Boys U17DA Soccer Battles in DA Action

FARIBAULT, MINN. - The Shattuck-St. Mary’s Boys U17DA soccer team began play for April against two Development Academy opponents over the weekend.

On Saturday, SSM took to the pitch against FC United. FC United notched the first goal in the contest in the 15th minute to take a 1-0 lead. With minutes left before the half, Brandon Cobb ‘19 served in a ball from a corner kick to Gavin Pankey ‘19 who was able to score on a perfectly timed header past the goalkeeper. FC United answered minutes into the second half, and though the Sabres fought hard for the equalizer, FC United captured the 2-1 victory.

SSM returned to the field on Sunday to face Sockers FC. Two quick goals by the Sockers put the Sabres down 2-0 by the 10th minute. Trevor Prince ‘19 connected with Wylie Trujillo ‘20 to put SSM on the board in the 57th minute, but two more Sockers goals minutes before put them at 4-1 final deficit.
