Sabres Skate Past North Iowa Bulls

FARIBAULT, MN – After visiting their home ice less than a week before in Mason City, Iowa, the Shattuck-St. Mary’s boys prep hockey team faced the North Iowa Bulls in front of their own home crowd on Wednesday, January 25. 

The Sabres got on the board first as Grisha Gotovets ’18 found the back of the net in the 1st period. Sam Stevens ’18 connected with Niko Esposito ’17 and Caleb Rule ’17 for another 1st period goal as well as the lone goal in the 2nd period to put SSM up 3-0 going into the 3rd

The Bulls put up two back-to-back goals in the 3rd, but Esposito and Gotavets answered to give the Sabres a 5-2 victory. The win was number fifteen for goaltender Vince Shonka ’17, who stopped 33 of 35 shots. 

SSM will continue their home stand this weekend as they face Omaha in a two games series starting on Friday.
